Meet Our Founder
My journey into the world of travel began in 2002, quite unexpectedly, when I won an all-expenses-paid trip for two to South Africa from a local Atlanta radio station. The contest involved unscrambling letters given throughout the week, and I happened to hear the cue to call while on my route as a letter carrier. "African Safari" was the phrase I came up with. After several attempts, I finally got through as caller 13. The radio host asked for my answer, and despite my nerves, I got it right. I was ecstatic, jumping and screaming with joy. But then came the question, "Do you have a passport?" I didn’t, so I fibbed, saying yes, knowing I had to figure out a way to get one quickly.
Finding someone to accompany me was surprisingly difficult despite the allure of an all-expenses-paid trip. Eventually, my cousin agreed to join me. Neither of us had passports, so we drove to New Orleans to get them expedited. After a long day, we held our passports in hand and were soon on our way to South Africa. That trip was a revelation. The difficulty in finding travel partners and the thrill of exploring new lands made me realize how much I wanted to see the world. However, it was challenging to find friends and family who were as eager to travel.
This experience inspired me to start a travel business. I recognized a need for a community where like-minded professional women could come together to explore the world without the daunting prospect of doing it alone.
Looking back, I am grateful for that unexpected moment when I won the trip to South Africa. It set me on a path that has allowed me to combine my passion for travel with my desire to make a difference in the lives of other professional women. Seeing the impact of our work and the excitement it brings to our community is incredibly fulfilling.
